MT MERU TREKKING

Day 1  Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport or from Nairobi, transfer to Outpost/Karama Hotel in Arusha. 

Day 2  Breakfast, drive from your hotel to the park gate, game drive en-route. Walk with a Park Ranger through a game filled parkland up to Miriakamba hut, at 8,100ft (4-5 hours). Overnight at Miriakamba hut.  

Day 3  Breakfast, Leave Miriakamba for Saddle hut, at 11,480ft passing through the forest (3-4 hours). Overnight at Saddle hut. 

Day 4 Wake up at midnight, and after a snack, proceed to the summit through the viewpoint of crater rim (4-6 hours walk). Descend to the Miriakamba hut for overnight (4-5 hours).

Day 5 Breakfast, leave Miriakamba descend to the gate via southern trail (3-4 hours) where you will cross under Fig Tree Arch (Ficus thoningii) formed after fig’s aerial roots reached the ground resulted to distinctive arch shape large enough for a car or elephant to cross through.The waiting car will take you back to Outpost/Karama hotel in  Arusha as the same in the first night.

Price includes:

• Arrival and departure Kilimanjaro Airport transfers. Or bus shuttle transfer Nairobi-Arusha-Nairobi if flying
to/from Nairobi.
• 2 nights accommodations at a mid-class hotel (Bed & Breakfast) in Arusha, before and after the climb/safari. Upgrade to Impala hotel or Snow crest hotel or The Ngurdoto Mountain Lodge is available for $50/person for the night  in Arusha.
• Accommodation in mountain huts or mountain tents with mattresses. We use the highest quality
expedition tents of Eureka and The North Face.
• All park fees, including mountain rescue fees, government taxes and all applicable fees and taxes.
• Services of a Professional leading guide who is medically trained, certified, licensed and English
speaking
• Services of English-speaking assistant guide (s), a skilled cook, and enough numbers of porters for your
luggage, food, and water, and a dinning tent.
• Transport from your hotel to the mountain, and back to your hotel.
• Use of radios/phones to increase your safety.
• Group average of 4~6 climbers, maximum of 12
